Stuff and the like
Alright... so I've been very non-updaty... So sorry, but not much is new that I considered post worthy (except a few things that I meant to post but forgot to and now I don't really remember them.. >_>) I guess the main new things going on since last posting would be (that I remember)...
1) I finally have health insurance again... kicked in the beginning of August - Yay! *does a happy dance then stops because she remembered she got the HMO...* >_< HMO's suck... never thought I'd say that because I had one before and it was just fine.... but no, I was just really lucky then... they really do suck! Had to spend an extra $25 (not TOO much, but when you're living pay check to pay check... means SOMETHING doesn't get paid) to get sent where I wanted to be sent in the first place... and have it delayed about 3 weeks since THEY make the appointment for you for times you're just not available because of the little thing called... they don't know your schedule and don't bother to ask... Anyway, now I'm probably going to have to go back to my PCP AGAIN to get a referral for another thing that I SHOULD be able to skip him for... *sighs*
2) Ginny Cat has FLEAS! I'm personally not entirely sure how she got them considering she's a STRICTLY indoor cat - she hasn't even escaped yet. My guess is the people that lived here before us had a dog and they left us presents in the form of dormant flea eggs... Matt thinks that there are just a lot of holes in the house (which is VERY true) and they got in at some time or another... either way it SUCKS! We treated her with some of the "over the counter" flea meds that goes at the base of the neck - just like the "prescription" stuff but less expensive. We treated her last week and I haven't seen any improvement (nor has it gotten worse though)... I'm not sure how long it's supposed to take, but I called the Vet anyway and found out a scary thing.... apparently the OTC stuff is basically the "old" formula stuff and it's actually considered not safe for cats (or dogs I guess)... and that they've actually had cases of cats brought in having siesures because of it - something about it getting into the blood stream... YIKES! (It might not really be the case, and the vet tech just wanted to get me to buy the stuff from them...but I don't think they do that sort of thing.. ) So I mentioned that we treated her last week and haven't seen any problems and should we keep an eye out. She said that if we hadn't seen a problem yet that most likely nothing bad will happen... we just won't get rid of the fleas! This all ended with my needing to figure out if Ginny weighs more than 9lbs and then going into the Vet on Friday to get Advantage (there's two different kinds - one for less than 9lbs and one for more than 9lbs... hence the weighing).
3) This past Friday Matt and I went up to Hilton Head so he could go to an interview at 9am. While he was doing his thing I went to get the car washed (DESPERATELY needed it) but the car wash place had it's water turned off for some maintenance and it wouldn't be back on for another hour or so (10am)... BUT.. if I came back then (or so) they'd give me a $5 discount to my wash (SWEET!). So, since I was in the land of Outlet Centers I figured I'd maybe look around and see if there were any good deals to be had - too bad none of the stores opened until 10am... so I drove around for about 20 or 30 minutes until Matt called to get picked up. Since it was still to early for the stores or the car wash we went for breakfast... at Golden Coral... not bad, not great... but the restaurant was WAY nicer than the one in Savannah (stupid Savannah!). Then we went to Jockey to get some underware and socks (since I had seen they were having a sale on top of being an outlet). Didn't really look around after that since it was getting later in the day and HOT... Got the car washed and went home. Several hours later I heard a comotion outside.. when I looked I saw 4 kids STANDING ON MY CAR and 4 more climbing up over the fence from the yard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was not happy... to say the least - livid is closer to accurate. Went outside and yelled at them profusely and came close to running after them down the lane when they bolted... There was no damage to the car but still... WTF?! You don't STAND on someone elses car!...
4) My dad called on Saturday with some.. news... I'm not entirely sure it's *completely* public yet... so when I find out I'll post more.
That is it for now... I need to make some dinner and get ready for work and then go to said work... *sighs*
