This past week was... interesting. Monday was a "normal" day at work and what not. Tuesday was my sick day from hell. Wednesday I found out I had overdrawn my checking account AGAIN... but wait... I didn't authorize that $100 Automatic Debit for Capital One......................................... CRAP! The end result of talking to Capital One, ( Read more... )

Wow. You have been having a pretty crappy week! I'm sorry to hear that. And yes, banks suck most of the time. If you wanted to play hardball, you could threaten to call the FDIC and get consumer protection in regards to the "more than 2 months" thing. It might be a more thorny issue if they have that policy in writing, but if the mistakes were clearly their fault, that shouldn't be an impediment to you being treated fairly. Anyway, I hope it gets worked out and that things go a little more smoothly in the coming week. Stay healthy! *hugs*

That is absolutely horrible!!! But at least you caught it before it could start getting reaaaaally out of hand. I'd be trying to figure out who was doing it and where the money was going... and closing your account is really important... like super important. The bank should realistically help you transition if you go in in person... I would think.

Well, I did find out the name on the account that most (and probably all - but they can't check back that far...) of the withdraws went to.... it was going to THEIR Capital One account.... So, what it looks like to me is that this wasn't someone that found my information and is using it maliciously. It looks like someone made a bad typo while filling out their auto payment information on the Capital One site - since routing numbers are regional, they'd only have to be in this area and miss type their account number. *shrugs* Either way, I will be closing the account shortly. And, yes, the bank is willing to help me out with transitioning.
