A few nights ago, we admitted a woman who called her daughter in the middle of the night. When the daughter arrived at her mother's house, she discovered her mother topless, having a good old chat with the carpet cleaning machine. Tonight, I had a patient who was just a joy.. she was pleasant, sweet, funny... until her blood glucose dropped.

At about 9pm, I checked her blood glucose. It was 69. A bit too low. I offered her some orange juice. She declined. Offered her some soda. She declined. Four other people offered her something with sugar in it. Yep. She declined.
