The Hangover

Cameron and Jorr and I watched it tonight. We laughed exactly 12 times. Two of them were during the photo montage with the credits.

Why is this a comedy?? It struck me as sort of a tragic mystery.

ETA: I accidentally saw Nine the other day with Clare, Marla, Courtney, and Erin. We were looking for New Moon but the showing we were looking for ( Read more... )

I think they dramadies are all trying to cash in on the success of Knocked Up, which was actually funny SLASH heartwarming, but they keep fucking it up because they don't actually understand what actually IS a)funny or b)heartwarming. Seriously. WTF.

I felt this way about The Wedding Crashers, too. Only made it through like maybe the first half. ZzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZ.

I saw District 9 the other night and was absolutely enthralled. It is an amazing sci-fi movie, and I very much recommend it. I also saw Red Road , which was erotic and absolutely heart-breaking at the EXACT same time. Also would have to recommend Teeth , because it is simply hilarious. Aren't vaginas with teeth always a bit hilarious? Also Raise the Red Lantern, and although this is not a movie, Flight of the Conchords is something you must see if you have not already (I think you may have?)

I'm a little afraid to say this in your lj, Peggy, but I feel that I must confess that in 2009 I discovered that a very large part of me hates David Lynch. We've watched Lost Highway , Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire , and at some point in each of those movies, I just lost it and yelled at the TV. It was always some version of: Goddamn you David Lynch, you make no fucking sense and you're so fucking proud of it, and you think it's your fucking perogative, and I HATE YOU! And I would end up stomping out of the room ( ... )

Ahahahaha. I saw District 9 and kind of liked it, except that I had to keep looking away during the parts that made me uncomfortable, which were about half of the parts of the movie. (The gross parts, but also the parts where the soldiers were being so cruel to the prawns, and the part where the main guy's on the phone with his wife and she says she never wants him to hold her again. Yes, the emotional parts put me off as much as the exploding heads... hahaha.)

I'll have to check out Red Road and Teeth. I've seen a few episodes of Flight of the Conchords but not nearly as much as I'd like to. :)

I actually... haven't seen ANY David Lynch movies?? Ahahaha. So no fear!

I really enjoyed This Is It. Not because that's Totally Obvious, but because it was a very well done movie.

I was entertained by the Princess and the Frog and Avatar in 3D too.

I liked Up, Whatever Works, Bruno, Food Inc. Year One was ok, not great...
