BARNACLES!?

What is the deal with barnacles? Barnacles is just one of those words that is funny to say out loud no matter what, eg: garage, glands (and glans), cob, ketchup etc. But I mean c'mon barnacles, what is the deal.

I should commission roaringaura to paint a watercolor barnacle I can hang on my wall.
