My Thinkpad T61 has served me pretty well for the last couple of years but now it's time for something new. I shopped around a bit but ended up going back to Lenovo and customized a W510. Hope you got the 1920x1080 full hd display that is available with W510.
Everything else is not so relevant/important although it makes for very very decent machine up there in a nice 15" box. As an owner of 14" (a Laptop from Lenovo I am talking about, just in case ) 15" is just so much nicer balanced machine ! I really doubt a humanbeing is so capable to multi-task with three-four-five-six? VMs running in that 16G powerhouse...

Again, if you chose to go with their color accurate, stunning Full HD display - very good for you, otherwise, I really suggest you to return it unopened and get the better display.

I'm thinking of getting the W510 and running Gentoo on it as well.

With your install of Gentoo, do the following work properly:
- Resume / suspend
- Automagically reacquiring network connections on resume
- Bluetooth (if present in the hardware)
- Two-finger scrolling

Sorry, can't answer any of the above. I never use suspend or bluetooth, and I haven't actually tried using Xorg yet. I'm still just sshing in from the old laptop until I have a weekend to finish copying everything over.
