Girls of LJ, heed my call! er...sorry. I need your help. A friend of mine's daughter is turning 13 tomorrow (Friday) and I need to get her a gift. I'm thinking like $40-60. I need ideas. Lisa's out of town so I'm counting on some good suggestions like a Tommy hoodie or something? I'm not sure what's cool for a new teenager these days? So ask ( Read more... )

I'm not sure I'm any good here. Right now I'm on a fish tank kick. But don't know if she's the type. Then, when I was 13 I would have liked books, but most 13 year olds want make-up and stuff. I'd suggest a nice diary in addition to stuffs, but I'm not sure if a diary from you would be odd or what.

What kind of stuff does the girl like? You can always go with a nice gift certificate to the mall or something :)

I think the safestpie thing is a gift certificate man. That way you don't have to make faux pases by assuming thee girl is trendy or assuming she is anti-trendy or any of those fancy things. Either to a clothingland or a musicland. (FYI: to a 13year old ittis not a gesture of "I know nothing about you" to get a gift certificate, it is thoughtful and acknowledging that they want to pick out their stuff but lack the funds.)

Shell suggests a fraggle rock hoodie or something technological. She says to be sure not to get her something she won't like because that would suck for all concerned. She also suggests a super nintendo cause those are probably cheap these days. (Interjection from rorpie: they are I bet you could get one for thirty bucks.)

Our final suggestions after consideration and conferencing are that you get her either one each of a music storecore and clothingland certificate, or you just get a mallcore certificatemuffin.

Happy hunting.

Thanks to you and Michelle (and everyone else who made suggestions). I totally procrastinated and ended up getting her a $50 gift card to Media Play (which was right by the restaurant we ate at) She was happy and we had killer lemon cake with a layer of pudding ::drolls:: and fun was had by all.
