Perhaps back in the clearance bins. I can get the same style of clothing at Nordstrom Rack or Goodwill for 1/10th of the price. So far, the only reasonably priced items I have found there are the mugs, and the occasional potholder.
Looking at their web-site I see summery blouses and jackets for $50-$100, and dresses for around $150, which seems fairly reasonable for people who make rather less than $250k. But maybe women buy more clothes than men. I thought nothing of paying $100 for a sport-coat, but then it was the only jacket I've bought for the past few years.
I think I balk more at the quality of the clothing, when compared to the price. I'm perfectly willing to shell out $100+ dollars for an item of clothing; but, it better be well made. Anthropologie sells your standard "made in insert 'developing' country here" items, with the added mark up of a well marketed lifestyle. The $250,000 figure comes directly from their marketing plan, not my imagination.
I adore their aesthetic, and if I had the disposable income, I'd probably buy my casual, toss-it-next-season clothing there. But, being on a budget, I'm better off duplicating the style at the much lower honest to goodness vintage clothing price point.
