Yes, I think that's wise. An interesting question might be, why do people hold on to negative baggage which brings them down? I'm musing but have no answers.

Well, have you ever held on to an old piece of clothing or nick-nack that has sentimental value for no other reason than you've had it forever? I think it's kind of like that.

Or, if we really wanted to get in deep, it's probably dependent on how those negative pieces play in to your identity (i.e., if you're a Sick Person and you start to get well, you're no longer really a Sick Person, and that can wreak havoc with identity).

The familiar definitely has comfort to it, even familiar bad things.

I know it's not a new idea, but lately I've been wondering if having all of our physical issues resolved (food, shelter) encourages mental illness.
