The throng, now fully joined (since
newbis was back), decided to do some digging based on the materials they found under Bob Gantz' bed (recall, he's the dude who has apparently been kidnapped by vampires and forced to bleed for some reason; Julia suspects that his blood is being used to create the drug "Solace"). Marty, using his computer-fu, found that the modeling company that Julia had once worked for (back when she was Julia Swansea, member of the human race) was owned by a fella named Albert Salvadore. Salvadore had been under investigation at one point, before the agency closed, and the 'net had a current address for him. Upon hearing his name, Julia felt the movement of Vitriol. Finding this guy was apparently important.
The throng went to investigate. Julia and Jesus went up to knock, while the others hung around outside. The building was a shithole, so they anticipated trouble (they got it, but later). Julia, using Color of Man to turn herself black, knocked and claimed to be a friend of Julia Swansea. Albert didn't seem to remember her, but was very conciliatory, promising to dig up what he could and bring it later to his club, the Foxhole. Maybe Julia (because Black Julia, which is a Sealab 2021 reference, thanks, didn't think to use a different name) would like to come to the club later? He'd been looking for a new dancer, anyway.
The Prometheans left to kill some time. Hank and Al went to the museum and Hank saw an exhibit on Babylonian myth, including the Humbaba (which the player's been looking to adopt as an Athanor).
Julia went back to the RV and went to sleep. She dreamed that she was on a table, and Albert Salvadore was standing near her. "It's OK, honey, everybody's nervous the first time. I'll give you something to relax you." He turned away from her and yelled, "Hey, Frankie, give me a hit!" From elsewhere, a door opened and light spilled into the room, and Salvadore said "Damn it, Mike, keep people out of here!" He turned back to Julia with a loaded syringe and started tapping her vein.... (Remember, BTW, that Julia Swansea died of a drug overdose.)
Jesus and Marty had stayed at Salvadore's apartment building. They finally got bored and went in. They heard him talking on the phone, but couldn't make out what he was saying. Just as Marty was about to break in, Jesus heard something from the end of the hallway - a Pandoran had erupted out of the floor and charged them! (The Incinerator Monster from the core book, if you're interested.) It fucked up Jesus pretty good, but between his punch-daggers and Marty's gun, they destroyed it. But now they were in a bad part of town and gunshots were involved. They finished breaking into Salvadore's apartment. He shot Marty (but not badly) and then ducked into the kitchen and shut the door. Jesus heard tires screech outside, but no sirens - not cops, then.
The characters heard some people outside, and they yelled for Salvadore. Marty, using his masterful reasoning skills, told Salvadore to chill, that they weren't there to hurt him and just wanted to duck out of the "trouble" in the hallway. Whatever was actually going through his mind, Salvadore agreed, and yelled to the gangstas that he was all right. They left, and so did the Prometheans.
Back at the RV, Julia shared her dream and Jesus healed his wounds. He wondered aloud if changing flesh back into electricity was possible, and Hank forced power into his hands, electrifying them (that'd be Shock). The characters discussed it, and they decided to go to the Foxhole and then hook up with Persephone the vampire.
At the Foxhole, the male characters sat down to get lapdances and study the effects of Disquiet on people who were doing their best to solicit money, while Julia got taken backstage by a big man named Mike...who recognized her (but then shook it off, because this was Black Julia and the Julia he remembered was white). In back, Salvadore arrived and told Julia how being a dancer worked (
newbis, who knows this scene, got chuckles out of how bad Salvadore was fucking over his dancers, but of course Julia doesn't know any better). She danced a while and made some money, but no mention of Julia Swansea was ever made. Al asked Salvadore about becoming a bouncer, and Salvadore took his number and said he'd call. As they were talking, Mike the bouncer approached and said "Brad's in your office." Al followed Salvadore, and caught a glimpse of Brad - probably the prettiest man he'd ever seen.
The characters left and got on the el to meet Persephone Moore. She arrived and they talked about Gantz. She wasn't able to narrow down the search at all ("in a place where gay porn was playing" isn't much of a start), but she did provide the police file on the case. Marty also mentioned "Solace," but Persephone said that it was a drug for vampires and she didn't know much about it. The characters talked about age and Marty mentioned that Hank was older than he looked. Hank told Persephone that he remembered building the pyramids, and her jaw dropped (consider vampires in Requiem, here). She made a phone call to someone called "Bella," and told her what was up. Hank asked, and Persephone said that Bella would like to meet with them.
Marty asked about Salvadore and Persephone made a call, and learned that Salvadore was basically a pimp, now running girls out of his club rather than the agency. She also mentioned that he had a vampiric patron - a man named Brad Kerwin. Al recognized Brad's description, and Persephone mentioned that Brad owned a gay bar called Sidetrack. Since Bella was a first stop, the characters decided to meet her first, and then go to Sidetrack and look into this Kerwin character. The night is young, after all.
