And if for some reason you don't end up using it for your grad school app--do you know www.killingthebuddha.com? It's an online magazine about religion and such--you might think about submitting it to them.
One note: But those who stayed through the change recognized that it is this constant reinvention (of fictional characters to appeal to a new wave of adolescents, of ourselves in an effort to self-identify with minorities at the margins of society) You might want to spend a little more time with this, even if it's only one more sentence. It feels like it's getting shoved in at the last minute and I don't think it needs to be.
