Nuclear plants in Japan are melting down, and radioactive clouds are headed our way across the Pacific. We have time to prepare...but what should we do? That said, if you live within 10 miles of a nuclear power plant, you absolutely should have Potassium Iodide (KI) tablets in your home. Parts of my county are within 10 miles of two separate nuclear plants, and our health department gives KI tablets away for free to residents in that 10 mile zone.
