Today was quite eventful. I drove to Joey's house to do some research on our Euro trip. We looked at cruises around the Mediterranean Sea. Joey really wants to visit Italty while I want to go to Greece. A cruise would allow us to do both, we havent been able to find any coach tours that would let us do that in just two weeks. A cruise is also ( Read more... )

Check to make sure that these cruises actually drop you off at the Greek Islands. I know many islands don't allow big ships to dock, so they might just be going around the island, and let you view it from the sea... which of course is no fun... Also, other than Athens, most of the Greek Islands shut down in winter. Best time to visit is definitely summer.

Also, why not explore mainland Europe just by plane and by foot. It's actually a lot more fun exploring the area yourself :D And likely more cheaper, since flights within Europe are pretty cheap. You just need to take one budget flight to London or something as your base, and fly out from there.

Ohhhh, the greek islands close in winter? No wonder there are so few cruises that go up there during December. I am all for going to Europe by ourselves, but my friends are not as open to that idea. Did you live in hostels when you travelled around Europe? How are they? I heard there are some pretty ghetto ones.

Yeah, I only lived in hostels in Europe. And they were not bad at all. Some were very clean and trendy lol. And hostels are where you'll meet similar young travellers :)

Hostels in Greece (I went to Santorini) are very cheap.
Hostels in Italy were most expensive when I went to Europe (I went to Milan and Venice), and they are less hostel-like, more motel-like. Which I didn't like.

I did a quick look at flights. It seems like flights from Paris to Italy are about $70 one way (after all taxes). Flights to Greece from there are about $150 one way (after all taxes). And flights to Paris are $400-500-ish one way. So flights within Europe are very cheap, as I've expected. Just gotta get to a major hub like Paris/London.

Finally a post in non-square blocky things. : P

Joey = boy? OMG Ida! Actually I'm more impressed by the idea of you driving + cruising. You will have fun, bring some nice dresses for the dancing and fancy restaurants ^_~

Oh, and tell me more about you going to Europe before! Where have you been in Europe? :D

Hm, if you're downtown in the St. Clair + Yonge area, there's a small Italian restaurant that serves delicious seafood linguine. King St. W is cool, hipster stuff, but I always feel I have to dress better to eat inside... lol. Yonge + Bloor area is better once you hit Yorkville... Yes, this is what happens when you have 3-hour breaks, lol

Did you see The Dark Knight? :D SO GOOD! *BEEP BEEP BEEP* <- me swearing a lot b/c it was SO GOOD! lol

*puts away wedding bells* Aww..

Maybe you don't need a cruise at all? : ) Less time on ship = more time to tour Greece and admire beautiful dark-haired, dark-eyed, tanned Greek guys~

Europe *is* on my itinerary, future-wise, particularly the Carpathian mountains, Stonehenge, all those Wonders of the World... I won't be touching China though. I can't use the toilets : ( lol

Nah, we won't chase you down... I do want to watch it on IMAX though. *shivers in delight* :D

to watch on IMAX you will need to buy tickets WELL in advance, though it might better now since the movie's been out for a while.
