I just typed up a presentation I have to make tonight on the derivation of Gauss' Law from Coulomb's Law. It involved many many math symbols and Greek letters, and I nearly copy/pasted the computer to death. I will hand it out to everyone in my class, and they will throw it away as soon as I am finished speaking. I would too, if I were them. I ( Read more... )

A summary and clarification on my last entry. Substance. I'm just begging for more substance in people's lives. That's all.

Well, I've been eating more fiber, so I'll keep you posted.

I love derivations. Must be cool to actually discover them.

I remember hearing when Maxwell derived a formula linking electicity to magnetism way back when, many scientists thought that was it. As in physics was done. Let's all move on to the other sciences because we've about wrapped this deal up.

Then some guy noticed Mercury wasn't orbiting the sun exactly how Newtonian Mechanics predicted, so relatively had to be invented mucking up the whole deal and keeping physics post-docs employed for a long time.

The presentation paper was excellent. If I can (almost) understand it, anyone can!

If I could have a job doing anything I wanted to, I would have a job doing derivations and proofs all day. Preferably of the trigonometric/geometric variety.
