I kinda miss making icons. I've been so out of the icon-making-loop that now whatever I make will look absolutely dismal compared to those folks out there who have advanced icon making to a whole new level. So I've been thinking of either deleting this journal entirely, giving it to someone, or just changing what it's about (such as posting graphic ( Read more... )

I love your simplicity though. :( I'd be sad if you went poof.

Aw, I hope you keep making icons. I like the simple ones best. Quite frankly, I think people have been over-doing them lately. There's only so much you can crowd into a little 100x100 square without it looking ridiculous. :D

Thirding this. I love bases, I get incredibly tired of all the bells and whistles, which frankly ruin the picture half the time.
And puckle's bases especially - there's always a scene you haven't seen capped, or an interesting crop...

Agreed. It takes way more skill to crop and color nicely than people would imagine, and I prefer simple icons, with color fixed and brightened rather than added and altered too much. They're just classier. :D

Honestly? I love your simple style. I don't discredit talent just because it's not fancy or looks overly-worked. Infact those kind of icons turn me off, they're too gody and rely too much on the fancy stuff. I like yours, they're natural and you have a good eye. I'd hate to see this communty deleted because you feel you aren't efficent enough. I disagree with that strongly.

Keep making icons! (By the by, are you going to Opry Mills for the movie premiere? I AM!)

"...my style was basically just cropping pictures and adjusting colors somewhat, which really takes no talent whatsover."

Completely untrue.
Anyone can crop an image, but it does take talent to be able to simply crop and adjust and still have the icon look amazing. And your icons are lovely, and I hope you don't stop making them.
