Russian millionaire or English lord - that is the question...

Thank you for those colourful impressions of your trip to Russia! All that gold in Peter Paul Cathedral!

At least on your pictures everything looks so clean and orderly. Was it like that? The pavement, the streets - I can't see any drop, paper, chewing gum or cigarette ends.

Those bulbous spires on the Church Of The Saviour's Blood look a bit like the entry to Disneyland next to the residencies. It's so alien. I like it.

Looking forward to the next pictures you'll be going to present!

*lol* I just bought a new computer screen and am totally awestruck by the colours of my pictures. Couldn't see them before. Couldn't see hardly anything before. What a wonderful fiest of light and colours :)
Yes, everything was so clean and orderly. It struck me too when I was there. There are always people who clean up every bit. If I think of my own town, I feel ashamed...

Hey! Congrats on your new screen! Finally!
As I notice you've instantly chosen something colourful for your layout! This is really nice indeed! Also for the first time you can actually SEE it!

This is something to squee about!

Thanks for sharing those pictures! So fascinating to see the USSR on a more personal level. I have heard that the Russians are doing pretty well in economic dept. Have you gone beyond the city? I wonder what the country side looks like? Glad you are having a good time!

Well, Petersburg and Moscow are rich, the countryside is still poor. In the outskirts of the city you can still see the infamous blocks of houses you remember from communist times. The poor stay poor, the rich get rich - that is what seems to be happening at the moment. Though it is saif that very slowly a middle class is developing. Good luck to the Russians.
I am already back in Germany by the way. And unfortunately I only had the chance to see Petersburg and Moscow - not much of the countryside.
More pics to follow tomorrow...

*LOL* There are more Russian millionaires than English Lords. Peter Paul fortress in miniature could go on your wedding cake. *LOL* I enjoyed and await the next image installment. :-)
