Results of the Poetry Challenge

Remember? I gave you the first stanza of a poem and asked you to find a title and compose a second stanza.
Well, all right, I was not very lucky in finding participants here ;) but I will still keep my word and post the original poem along with the results. They are surely worth it! Thanks, elle_icit !!! Your throne still has not been broken *g*

Original version by Leonard Cohen:

Poem

I heard of a man
who says words so beautifully
that if he only speaks their name
women give themselves to him.

If I am dumb beside your body
while silence blossoms like tumors on our lips
it is because I hear a man climb stairs
and clear his throat outside the door.

elle_icit 's version:

Promised Land

I heard of a man
who says words so beautifully
that if he only speaks their name
women give themselves to him.

He thought he might own them
with his whispers and his smiles
till sinking deep inside he lost himself
and in their embrace he cried.

My version:

Afflictions

I heard of a man
who says words so beautifully
that if he only speaks their name
women give themselves to him.

May they swoon and sigh
his every heartbeat is tied to hers
who understood his longing a lifetime ago
who truly listens though she is deaf.

me_pirateship 's "version" ;)

Any rhyme
I write
turns out
a crime
try
as I might.
*pout*

You guys can still participate, you know :) I will add your poems in no time for sure. Pleeeeeeeease! :) This is so very interesting...
