We wouldn't have any green at all if we didn't diligently apply the garden hose every day or two, week after week. But we rarely achieve that deep green that is only seen after actual, measurable rain.
It is such a beautiful area. And the paths weren't as muddy as I was expecting. When I set out, I thought that I would probably meet a deep quagmire and have to turn back at some point.
Tea in a historic inn would have been a perfect end to the walk. But I had my Thermos flask with me on the walk, so I wasn't too bothered.
I need to buy a new winter coat for walking. I have a winter coat, but it's too warm. That's the second time I've made that mistake and I must not buy another coat online.
Yes, it's hard to find a good coat for walking, unless you go for one of the expensive ones with a detachable lining.
But I always prefer a heavy coat - one that you can wear out in the rain all day and still feel toasty. I suppose it's a hangover from being out in the rain so much with horses and spaniels.
I used to have to spend whole days out in the rain either with horses or on field trips that G was running. If a group had come to the area for a weekend, then we went out to look at rocks regardless of the weather. These days, however, being retired we have become fair weather walkers. Being able to withstand a Welsh downpour for many hours is no longer something I need a coat to do.

No rain since February... It's just impossible for someone living in this land of rain to conceive.

Too bad about the lack of tea, though.
