Eeeee. I'm sorry. That's a horrible run of luck. That iPod should have lasted a great deal longer. If it's dead, then there really must be a connection. Perhaps the computer you connected it to had voltage problems? I have no idea, just guessing.

I'm sorry, though- wish there was more I could do.

Wait a minute!

Right before all that happened my power cable on my laptop went dead. Dell sent me a new one. What if they sent me the wrong one??
