So, one of the guys at work just got in this morning. We're in on the holiday because it's a good time to rerack servers. He's a fair skinned indian guy with a typical unshaven IT geek look. Two stops before the downtown stop where he usually disembarks, they made everyone exit the el'. The platform was swarming with military looking people

I wonder how much it would have escalated if he hadn't cooperated with them. Hard not to go along with the reasonable questions of people with guns.

He's only recently a US citizen (a title of decreasing value), so I expect I'd be advertising for a new network admin and wonder what happened to him. Maybe I'm cynical, but given that other routes into the city were left wide open, I can only assume that this was an exercise designed to acclimate people to being comfortable with vaguely identified, quasi military forces with guns as a part of every day life.
