There is a new trailer out for X-Men: First Class.
Things you should know about me:
1) The X-Men are probably the superhero team I've followed for the longest, and followed most faithfully. (At least on the Marvel side. I've always had a big old soft spot for the Batfamily, too.) I grew up with the nineties cartoon, and I moved from those to the comics, and the Dark Phoenix Saga is still one of the best fucking story arcs in comics ever.
2) I ship Xavier/Magneto like a mofo. (IT'S SERIOUSLY CANON, YOU GUYS. ...in my head. But that's what matters, amirite?)
3) James McAvoy is pretty much the only man I would have sex with. No, seriously, I first saw him in Children of Dune and I kind of obsessively track down everything he's in even if it's really shitty because I'm that ~in love~. He's also one of the best actors of his generation, in my admittedly biased opinion. And he should play Cinna. I would kill to see him play Cinna.
4) Ever since Winter's Bone, I've become quite the Jennifer Lawrence fangirl, too.
5) Things I have a historyboner for: the Cold War in general, the Cuban Missile Crisis in specific.
6) Things I have a narrativeboner for: what your responsibility is to a world that despises you, particularly when you have the power to save it; revenge versus rebuilding; questioning your humanity.
My reaction to this trailer, therefore:

I know it's unwise to get my hopes up this high about a movie, but YOU GUYS I CANNOT HANDLE HOW INCREDIBLE THIS LOOKS. IT IS BASICALLY ALL OF MY NERD DREAMS COMING TRUE.
