Brilliant and fantastic and totally canon.

God, Snow is so evil.

*blush* Thank you~ We have spent way, way too much time breaking down the events of THG to figure out how they'd map onto this fic.

And Snow is the worst. *shudder* Mith has been instrumental in shaping his voice, and I can never figure out whether her writing him so well (so awfully?) is a good or a bad thing.

That just about covers it, yeah. Oh, Finnick. Your life. Your lack of choices.

He grins. “And it’s Wednesday.”

:D I love all the little callbacks to previous fic! I love all your mentor voices, and your Snow is so delightfully creepy and evil. This is pretty much my canon now for the mentor side of the Games.

Any more chance of more Haymitch/Johanna, BTW? Those two together just makes for ridiculously awesome snark.

I can manage more Haymitch/Johanna! I've been flirting with the idea of using them for a square on Kink Bingo.

I'm really glad you're loving this so far--the callbacks are honestly my favorite thing to do with fic, blending all these stories into one universe. So thank you!

Yay! I realize it's not a pairing you see much but in my mind, they work. Both apparently alone courtesy of Snow, and they're just such a pair of cynical, abrasive, snarky bastards who tell it like it is. They pretty much light up any scene in the three books that either of them is in with some kind of memorably line.

I have to think she'd have some great comments post-Mockingjay about Haymitch's new career of (sort of) raising geese. I always wonder what happened to her in the aftermath too.

Thank you for it! I love seeing internal consistency like that, and in this case it makes for a more vivid story to see all those little nods woven in. I honestly enjoy reading more about the mentors than the main characters. Whoops. ;)

Oh, and I can't forget one important thing: they're both fans of a well-thrown axe. XD

SO MUCH HATE AND DISGUST
SNOW RUINED MY PRETTY ODAIR DREAM-OTHER-LIFE
I can't decide if I passionately hate or love you guys (Mith) for it. Probably both.

I stand with Johanna. SMACK THAT BITCH WITH A SPIKED BAT.

also, RUE. My friend just texted me yesterday while she was reading THG for the first time and was completely distraught over Rue's death. COLLINS, WHY
But the way you wrote the death scene was wonderful. Oh, Katniss. Rue. Whyyy

SNOW MAKES EVERYTHING AWFUL. I mean, he's a fantastic villain to bring in because you can trust him to bring the pain and bring it hard, but he gets such a kick out of ruining everything for the victors ever and you want to punch him in the teeth. A lot.

Johanna is so much fun to write in this, because she gets to say what everyone is thinking. And so colorfully, too. (Plus, she and Finnick are sticking up for each other now! In their own idiosyncratic sort of way.)

I believe I have already mentioned the "Collins feeds on our tears" thing, yes?

This is brilliant. I can see the threads of victor solidarity here that we saw in Catching Fire and this is awesome and terrifying and POOR EVERYONE and ;fkh.lsafdljgvbla

*cough* Anyway, you two are doing a great job!

Thank you! Building the relationships between the victors, and the ways they understand each other almost too well, is something Mith and I keep returning to in all the stories we tell in this continuity. There's a lot going on there, even if a lot is "oh god you scary scary broken-in-the-head people."

So glad you're along for the story!
