(...actually, do you have my number? I'll e-mail it to you if you don't. I don't check LJ a whole lot these days, but you can text me if you want to talk.)
I'm still kicking around; I've been toying with a minor world-building project in my free time. Also, I saw a book by Greg Bear (whom I seem to recall you recommending at some point) in a used book bin and grabbed it; it was a decent read.
I have! And it's good to be doing well for a change.
Was it Greg Bear or Elizabeth Bear? Hmm. I have read some of Greg Bear's stuff, though, and it's usually pretty good. Not earth-shattering, but not anything I'd hurl across the room, either. I hope the worldbuilding goes well~
Well, good luck with your life~ I know my life has kept me from Fannish things as well. (I have so many books to read, so many characters to play with and noooo time.) But hey, happy things happen in RL (I saw your post here, congrats! I don't know how to reply on tumblr, but here are your congrats!)
I never did give you my prompt for help_japan did I? I guess I forgot because, suddenly college. Oops.
I think you need a tumblr to reply on tumblr, but thank you! It is certainly happy-making. :D And I hope your life is also going swimmingly, if busily.
I don't think you did! Feel free to PM/email it to me whenever you have the time.
it's easier to reblog and/or come up with 140 characters of witty things to say than it is to create an entire post full of content
Which has a lot to do with why I find Tumblr and Twitter so unsatisfying, I think, especially for communicating and sharing more than knee-jerk squee or rage.
Anyhow, glad to hear things are coming up roses for you all over the place--including the thing liberty_witch linked to above, which I hadn't seen and am not explicating here because I assume you have your reasons for not talking about it on LJ. Congrats to you both!

I definitely get that, and it's one of the reasons I was slow to get Tumblr and Twitter accounts in the first place. I've always used my LJ primarily for fannish things, though, not so much for things pertinent to real life, and I don't have a whole lot to say about fandom beyond knee-jerk squee or "ooh, pretty picture" lately. It's not a bad shift, but it's a shift.
Well, I wasn't talking about fandom when I said that about Tumblr and Twitter. In fact, I think Tumblr is fine for engaging with fandom in certain ways and that's really all I use it for. It's when things get more involved that I don't find it very useful
