About fifteen hours into Suikoden II...

...and damn.

I came into this game with somewhat conflicting expectations. Mith really didn't like it (though she's enjoying it considerably more on this playthrough, I think) and has spent some time detailing its faults to me. Other Suikoden fans, however, seem to really love it, and I've heard it cited as a lot of people's favorite in the series ( Read more... )

I love me some Suikoden II, but you knew that already.

Luc is far and away the best mage in this game.

Whether you love or hate Luca Blight, his death scene is a story for the ages.

I do indeed, and I suspect I'm in your camp on that one. *grins*

As for Luc, I love having him cast spells that are supposed to hit for around 100 damage or so, and watching him deal about three times that. :D Maybe it's good that I played III before the first two, so I didn't bitch about no longer having access to his insanely high Magic stat.

I have heard that Luca's death is positively Rasputin-esque. And that I need a Fire Sealing Rune. I'm looking forward to it!

Luca Blight is ruthless.

I hear his jaw is insured for ten thousand potch.

I hear he sets towns on fire--in Falena.

His favorite movie is Saw.

One time, he met Yuber in Toran, and Yuber told him he was crazy.

One time, he made me squeal like a pig. It was awesome.

Luca Blight's death is definitely a Rasputian death. I swear, that's like the hardest battle in the game for me LOL.

And homg, if I had to hear Nanami's talking for real, I'd stab my own ears out. I already dislike her, so to hear her yap away . . . *screams bloody murder*

Suikoden 2 has great music -- in fact, unlike other games, I like almost all the tracks in Suikoden 1 and 2. The later games has some great tracks here and there, but I don't enjoy all the tracks that are present in 3, 4, and 5. I mean, I didn't even like the ending theme song for 3 while I adore 1 and 2. 4's ending theme was okay, and 5 was okay, too, but nothing beats Suikoden 1 and 2 themes.

Ha, I've heard all about the Luca Blight battle from friends, and I don't know whether I'm looking forward to it or dreading it. It feels appropriate that you have to kill him like five different times, though. That crazy bastard. (I do get a kick out of him, though.)

I liked a lot of the music in 3, especially in the Grasslands, but 2's music is beautiful. Even when my fiancee was badmouthing 2 before I got the chance to play it, she admitted that the music was awesome. I wasn't all that fond of 1's music at first, but when I got to listen to better-quality versions of the tracks, I appreciated them more.
