History: Kristoph is the eldest out of two; his younger brother, Klavier, studied law and became a prosecutor at the age of seventeen (as well as a rock star?). Kristoph advanced his career as a defense attorney even through the days of the original Phoenix Wright trilogy, even though he's never mentioned.

After Apollo Justice graduated from law school, Kristoph took him in as part of the Gavin & Co. Law Firm. For a short time afterward, he becomes Apollo's mentor. That is, of course, until Apollo and Phoenix turn the tables and accuse him of murder. In the first case, they're never able to secure a motive, but afterward, everything becomes quite clear. As a defense attorney, Kristoph is a perfectionist. During the trial of Zak Gramarye, Kristoph became his defense attorney; and even went as far as to create fake evidence for the occasion. Vera Misham and Drew Misham, the two who agreed to make the evidence for him, were targeted afterward. This is where it becomes tricky.

In order to get rid of Vera and Drew, he speaks to Vera directly, keeping himself anonymous to everyone except Vera. He swears Vera to secrecy. Noticing her tendency to bite her nails, he gives her a "good luck charm," or a bottle of Ariadoney clear nail polish laced with atroquinine. This way, if she was ever forced to go outside, no matter what the circumstance, that she would bite her nails with the poison nail polish. He also sends Drew a confirmation letter with an enclosed stamp covered in atroquinine. However, Vera decides to keep the stamp in a small frame instead of using it.

Kristoph lost himself in preparation, and when Zak Gramarye, his client, challenged him to a poker game, he lost. Zak fired him on the spot, and instead, hired Phoenix Wright. Zak mentioned that you get to know a man when you compete with him, and that was the reason that he changed lawyers. Kristoph introduced the forged evidence anyway, but giving it to Zak's eight year old daughter, Trucy, and having her deliver it to Wright. He mentions to his brother, who's prosecuting the case, about how Wright is in possession of fake evidence. He tells him to call Drew Misham as soon as it gets presented ...

Zak Gramarye is about to be found guilty, and then disappears entirely. Phoenix gets his badge revoked after an unanimous vote for the consequence of introducing forged evidence into a court of law. Kristoph, one of the attorneys on the board, votes for a lesser charge, and then befriends Phoenix as a result. He keeps an eye on Phoenix, Trucy, Vera and Drew-as well as one of Zak's close reporter friends. Seven years pass.

Zak Gramarye reappears as the Borscht Bow Club, Phoenix's place of work. After Phoenix leaves because of a small spat between him and Zak, he's murdered in cold blood by Kristoph. Apollo and Phoenix accuse Kristoph of the murder, and he's sent to jail. The mystery begins to unfold, and Apollo finally, with Klavier's help, puts Kristoph in jail for a very, very, very long time.
