my poor little Doyle

sooooooooooo......

last week (on weds) my little pug Doyle wasn't feeling so hot.  he was vomiting, seemed depressed and refused food.  now we all know that a pug refusing food is a MAJOR red flag.
i made several phone calls to the vet throughout the day and at four o'clock we all decided it would be in his best interest to go get checked out.
dr. Murphy is this angel of a woman who looooooooves pugs and has one of her own named Penny Lane.   she checked out my little Doyle and we decided that he might have an upset stomach.  she gave him a shot of cerenia (an anti nausea medicine) and sent him home with strict instructions of "no food or water until tomorrow!" here he is on the car ride home looking pretty pissed.

thursday rolled around and he finally drank some water but was STILL refusing food.  he only spit up a couple of times and the vet had said that may occour.   his mood was up and down all day as well.  he would seem sad and then be back to normal.  we hoped that by friday he would be better.
friday came and he was vomiting all morning.  straight bile.  we even tried some baby food on the vets suggestion and threw up when he smelled it.
back to the vet!
x rays revealed some metal pieces that the vet thought could have been from his nuetering surgery when  he was a pup or something scarier.
Doyle had to stay overnight for an ultrasound and some close watching over. the vet assured us that he would do everything in his power not to cut our baby open.
as all this was going on i was FREAKING out!  not only was my baby sick, but he had to be away from me.  i hadn't spent one night without him in his short two years.  the bill was steadily climbing, not that i'm complaining, i'll do ANYTHING for my Doyle.
saturday morning the phone rang first thing.  it was Doyles other dr, dr. Schulman, another amazing man that we and Doyle adore.  he said very plainly that there was something in his stomach and that they had to do surgery right away.  we okayed it and sat wringing our hands for the next three and a half hours.
the drs called us and said the surgery was  a success and they found a blue chunk of some foam like substance in his intestines.  it was blocking his intestines 100 percent and they were dying.  if they hadn't of cut him open within 24 hours his intestineswould have perforated and well.... i don't want to think about what would have happened next.
we did a full cleanup of our apt and weren't able to find ANY blue foam.  we came to the assumption he found something when we were out on a walk.
the vets office was closed on sunday and we had to wait until today to visit.
my poor baby!  he was so sad/mad at us when we walked in!  he wouldn't sit with me for the first ten minutes.  he was groggy and grumpy to say the least.  he has a six inch incissionon his tummy.  thankfully dr Murphy is a strong believer in pain meds and he was feeling NO pain.
the vet said he was only eating when hand fed and we got him to eat a few tablespoons.  my assumption is that he is scared to eat because one of the last things he did caused him so much pain.
the dr told us he was doing great but couldn't come home until he would eat on his own.  he asked if we'd like to see what was in his stomach and to our surprise it was a rubber foot off of one of his toys!

so much for indestructables! as you can see he rips the feet off but i thought i got them all.  i feel so awful!  here he is when we visited him today.

my long story comes to a close with a question to all my fellow pug lovers......
the cost of all of this was at $2,100 today.  that is not counting take home meds and tonights stay in the hospital.
i need some serious ideas for fundraising.  i'm planning a garage sale in the next couple of weeks and my boyfriend has set up a paypal account (mozangeles138@gmail.com) for any donations that people are willing to help us with.  does anyone have any ideas?  the vets office is being really cool and letting us make payments but it's going to be tough.
sorry for such a long post but i needed to get it out.  you guys all know the love i feel for my Doyle.  we all have that weird pug love that only other pug lovers can understand.  any form of encouragement or ideas are much needed.
thank you all for reading this.
