So Coachella 2006 has come and passed, and with that comes a blog. Yes folks, an entry entirely dedicated to the sweatiest weekend of my year. I will attempt to make this a cut to make those of you who aren't interested (*slap*) skip right past it without too much strain on your poor clicker finger.
We bought an 8 person tent the weekend before, along with a little fan thingy with a light on it and some deoderant and hand sanitizer, yaddah yaddah yaddah. Well, last year Anne and Adam went with us but this year Anne's grandpa died and the viewing was in Hawaii Coachella weekend. *le sigh* Oh well.
Ok ok, so we decided to leave earlier than last year (which was 10pm) so we ended up leaving around 7. I told Tim last year we bought 2 things of water and he said we drank them all. I said no, cuz I took a full one home. And who was right? Me. I have a full thing of water in my back seat right now. So we spent like 30 minutes arguing over what to eat cuz Tim wanted to buy meat and bread and everything for the sandwhiches and Adam and I (the people who were paying for the food) wanted to just buy the already made sandwiches and like an extra thing of meat and cheese. Adam and I won. Chex mix, jerky, pickles (you know how we do), dried mangos, gatorade and some other shit. Again, too much food. But it was under 100 bucks. Maybe we'll get it right next year? But we did one thing right... NO SOGGY SANDWICHES! YAY!
Got to Indio around 9.30 and were in line untill like 12 Ugh. Awful. Unpacked, spent a while trying to pitch tent when some guy came around and helped us. Then he asked if we had any shrooms. Nawp. None here sir. So anywho, went to sleep around 2 and woke up at 6.30 cuz we forgot to get ice the day before. Tim and I drove to the gas station and got gas and energy drink and washed up (also pooed). Went back, dressed up, and stood in the venue line for 30 mins before standing in a huddled crowd in front of the first stage for an hour awaiting Head Automatica. Man oh man... what an event starter. It was amazing. The rest of the weekend was filled with Eagles of Death Metal, Coheed and Cambria (which I was close enough to take a picture but my phone battery died), Damien Marley, Ted Leo, Be Your Own Pet, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Bloc Party (blown up condoms used as beach balls included), and I'm drawing a blank right now ... so maybe I'll list the others later.
I bought an awesome new hat that Tim didn't like until an hour after I was wearing it... then he liked it. Pictures to post. We did alot of laying down and napping during the weekend. It was nice and not as itchy as I thought it would be. The second day some lady doing a fashion survey came over and took a pic of Adams t-shirt and asked him some questions and then took pictures of me and my skull stockings. That sure did make my day. "I like you gettup" I was waiting the whole time for someone to say something about my tattoo, but nothing. To no avail. *le sigh* (speaking of which I have a clearer pic of it now, posted later). We didn't watch either headliner, Depeche Mode or Tool. HOWEVER, we did get stuck in an ocean of people leaving the venue Sunday. It was all the people watching Tool. And since the show had went over the curfew 15 minutes, the porto-potty cleaner trucks had already made their way into the venue... blocking the exits. *rolls eyes* it was a disaster. I clung to Tim's arm hoping not to get trampled.
