I need to frame a couple more posters and postcards and I think I'll get a rug at some point, but I'm really happy with it right now. If I could just get the cat to quit shedding on it.
I went to a three day Camp Wellstone training this weekend, which was really great. I didn't learn a ton of new things, but it organized a lot of things I already knew. And I met a lot of cool people. It was sort of interesting though, there were people representing just about every progressive group in SD, but no one from any GLBT group. And they're probably the ones who need a little help with organizing, especially going into the ballot initiative fight. *sigh* The only thing that kind of got me down was that in the beginning, there was a lot of bitching. I don't know if it's just that when liberals around here get together, they finally feel free to make unrestrained political pronouncements, but it got really old, fast. Yes, the 2000 election was a sham. It was also five years ago and it's totally unrelated to what we're talking about! It also came off as kind of condescending, like some people were trying to 'teach' the rest of us. They haven't found any WMDs? You're kidding?! It really made me see why some people might find the left a little annoying. However, by the second day, everyone was a lot more focused on the future and the task at hand.
I probably have more to say, but I need to get back to work. I'm having a lot of trouble concentrating lately, so I need like twice as long to finish anything.
