After work yesterday, the boy and I sat out the front having a glass of wine and chatting about his new boss Brendan. Brendan was telling Duncan how his marriage has seen better days and that he's basically not coping well with the change in his wife of late. For some men, that's everything. If you don't believe me, watch (or read) the original Ira Levin's "The Stepford Wives." This is what I've been battling against. God, what I wouldn't give for a man who appreciated what he's got; no what the damn ideal is and if his wife appeals to it.

I think you're a great wife, Lis. I think Duncan appreciates you. i don't think Brenden is Duncan --- and thank goodness! Duncan appreciates you for who you really are... not the stupid idea of who he wants you to be.

I've heard you mention the Stepford Wives but I haven't seen the movie or read the book. It'll be my mission now to go out and get a copy of one or both.

You know what amazes me is the fact that the perfect, ideal wife that Brendan spoke to Duncan about had no mention of looks! That blows me away because I thought guys would be more vain than that. I guess they're not superficial, just stupid! lol

Thank you for the compliment of me being a good wife. I probably should try harder but I give it my best shot, most of the time anyway. I'm very relieved that the boy isn't like his boss - our relationship wouldn't have made it this far if he was. \

You definitely need to see/read "The Stepford Wives," but please oh please NOT the Nicole Kidman version. I love Nicole Kidman but that remake totally butchered the story and IMHO ruined the message that Levin made with his original work.
