ok. . .so i've been learning something. that teachers are just really good spokes people for their subject matter. i'm taking a contemporary art history course. . .and i'm a firm believer than an artists work. .music, writing, art, whatever. . .should in the end speak for itself. and i'm all for people being on the edge of what's excepted in

at the same time however, haven't you ever looked at something and said 'what the fuck?' and then after having it explained, or learning something about the person who made it (especially in the case of modernism, where this is an acceptible 'technique') you thought 'that's pretty cool'?

naw i agree with you. . .i've seen a lot of art like that. i also love really abstract things. i'm just saying some work gets more credit than it deserves at times.
