Right to equal respect, dignity and faith in calibre

On the "International Women's Day" I have just one wish, the women's reservation bill should NOT be passed and abandoned forever.

If my words are less on the genteel protest, read more from Lopa Mudra -> Here

Update: INC puts Bill on hold. Yay, yay!

I totally agree. reservation is first step towards inequality and disparity. its like saying you are too weak to be elected on your own hence we are giving you reservation.

I strongly believe that India will progress well if all the reservations are removed. if any reservation have to be provided it should be on economic background.

Absolutely, there shouldn't be any reservation in the first place but if at all any then on economic grounds.

I believe the whole purpose of reservation is to equalize the society in a specific aspect which we are not able to attain naturally. Out of 545 members in Loksabha now we have only 59 women members(less than 11 percent). Naturally it should be around 50 percent. But even after 60 years of independence we are not in any manner near to it. In such cases reservation is an 'unnatural boost' which is unavoidable in a democratic system. For example the poor deserve equal respect and dignity. If they are asked to come out of the poverty by themselves, it may take generations for them to do it. Providing reservation for them is in no way a disrespect to them. On the other hand we are respecting their calibre which is hidden under their poor financial status. Similarly the bill is a way of respecting women's ability(to lead the nation) which is hidden due to various social and cultural reasons.

reservation is the worst solution and clear example of inability of government and/or society to do betterment of respective class. democracy's very foundation are on competition, and reservation basically killing the democracy.

sorry that was me...

"awareness" is the most important thing , and even though so much hype about Indian media, its penetration to rural area is very very less. ( and highest is by Bollywood movies..) -- just facts reaching to every single Indian is good enough change that India need first...

problem is reservation is too easy a solution
>> Absolutely. As if nobody has time to think of a better solution.

women constitute 50% of the population so does this not mean that we should have proportionate representation
>> Proportional representation is a valid demand. The society will function better if it has representatives from all groups, not only based on caste, region or religion or sex but also AGE. However, reservation is certainly not acceptable.
