Oh.. it's surprising that how much our thoughts match! I've been craving to be in exactly the same situation u r talking about.
Even i'm too jealous of the guy in Good Will hunting !

And one point about crude traveling.. u really don't need LOADS of money. To amke it clear.. watch "Into the Wild" :D

well I dont get the patience to read books much these days. my passions are movies and music mainly. sometimes yes I want to read some books, but dont go for it because I might stop reading it in the middle. too bad. movies are better for me. watched Good Will Haunting too. well me too sometimes feel if I could be someone like him. btw if u dont know, Matt Damon n Ben Affleck won Oscars for that movie for writing screenplay for it.

Music tops my passion list. :) Reading and listening to music usually goes hand in hand.
You should try your hands at more visual- stories. And, if size scares you, you could choose slim volumes or abridged versions. Don't lose out from the treasure that lies in books.

yep, I was aware of that info. Still, thanks all the same. :)

Yeah 99 % of the time I feel that education should be free and learnt with a passion towards it rather than forcing some one to study something ( ... )

Yeah, my story is quite similar. However, engineering has taught me to develop interest in subjects I don't like. I can not be ascetic enough to disregard grades all together, my parents would disown me. :P

People like you are indeed geniuses in their chosen stream of study, while people like me compromise on interests and crib about it their entire life. sigh!

Well, I don't know what kind of books you are talking about, but 500 bucks for one book on an avg may not be that costly. :)
I am a book conglomerate, I refused to accept clothes or other things as gifts from my relatives since long. Cash [which I could use to buy books] or books were the only gifts I accept. :P

Well, we are not rich either. Though I guess I have had access to English books more readily.
btw, I mostly read from various libraries - school , college BCL et al.

My dad loves to buy books, so he might have curtailed expenses somewhere but kept on buying books where-ever when-ever he could. Yes, I know children indeed take after their parents if they are into reading.

I have been lucky to have inherited books and also, to have been introduced to a plethora of genres thanks to varied tastes of my mom and dad. :)

I envy Matt a lot for the role he played in good will hunting. My desires just saw a personified form in him.

I am sure many share your feeling. I was more impressed by his love to read and esp that he had no constraints to read anything particular.
btw, what happened to the LJ account you created?
