Now that I am living by myself, I am making an effort to eat more natural/organic foods as well as good quality food (or as we call it in my family "shi-shi"). One of the food items I've decided to upgrade is my butter.
HomeGoods was selling a bunch of her homewares stuff (like the gg dishes) several months ago. Not sure if anything is left, but since you are now in Savannah, might be worth hitting up to get on the cheap/. Also, the Kitchen place downtown sells her stuff, can't remember what the store is called but it's next to Terra Cotta (another lovely store).
I've been to Terra Cotta a few times already, heehee. I stopped by the kitchen store, but I got all confused with how disorganized the store was. I'm weird like that. If a store doesn't have a good layout I just get flustered and leave.
HomeGoods...sounds familiar, what street is it on?
HomeGoods is a chain, owned by the same company as Marshall's and TJ Maxx it's a close out store for, well, home goods natch. It's located on the Southside of Savannah in the Walker Shopping plaza (?) across from the Oglethorpe Mall. There's Panera and Books a Million in the same plaza. So you need a car or bus or a long bike ride to get there. If you want to get a coffee or tea and then go shopping, I have a car and would be happy to take you.
As for tea places, the nicest will be the Gryphon Tea Room. There is a tea shop on Broughton with tea service in the back, but it's not as lovely as the Gryphon. As for coffee houses I like the Sentient Bean at the end of Forsyth Park (cash only, be forewarned!) and Gallery Espresso, 234 Bull Street.
if you are looking for something to do this weekend: Yoga - For Peace is happening in Forsyth Park (free with DOnation)Saturday morning and the Sentient Bean is celebrating their fifth anniversary with a party for it's customers on Saturday as well.
my parents have these butter dishes from Scandinavia that are soooo cute, but I don't know what they're called. They're from the 60s. I recommend egg cups from Germany if you can find any, that's where I learned to eat an egg like that and they are so pretty.
