Grip tape?

Aug 18, 2012 17:39

I made a racquet for the first time. It's for Sae-san. If you think something smells fishy about this, for example, you're wondering how I could make the gut... I don't blame you for being surprised. It is a bit of a shark. I even made a racquet-press. I know, it's impressive.

I hate to ask, but does anyone have any spare grip tape? I can't sand it ( Read more... )

sae, ojii, am i too good?, carpentry puns, ootori, building, seafaring puns

It's not silly; Hiyoshi doesn't "get" music either, though his case might be a bit different (: But I've spent a semester as an assistant music teacher (under Sakaki-kantoku, haha, that was sort of... awkward) at the middle school before so if you want to learn I think I can help!

Shishido-san...? Um. Sure, it's fine, you can ask.

There are people who like music so much that they cry or laugh but I've never lost my composer. I don't understand how it can have that effect on people. It beats me. Let alone performing music, that must be hard. I only break into song because I can't find the key.

Even though you like him, isn't it hard to do nice things for him? How do you show him you care without him calling you stupid?

[ooc: Davi is a bit blunt, so he's making a lot of assumptions about what Ootori and Shishido's relationship is like.]

(hehe) That's fine, music has different affects on different people. I've cried at a couple songs before when they're just too beautiful *not* to evoke that response, but it definitely isn't a reaction that applies to every sort of music! And music is an acquired trait; things like singing off-key can be fixed (:

...Should it be hard? I do nice things for him, and most people if I'm able, because I want to. His, ah, choice of terminology tends towards 'lame' more than 'stupid' but that should be taken with a grain of salt. I think.

I have heard songs that remind me of good things... but no music has ever made me feel better than the sound of waves. I was always really bad at music class, probably because I didn't understand the 'appreciation' part. Really? Could you teach me to sing better? I'd ask about lessons for violin but those normally come with strings attached...

I get called stupid. And boring. But especially, "not funny". ...Ah, but not by Shishido-san to my knowledge, anyway. By Bane-san. I know he doesn't seriously mean it I'm totally funny. It's just kind of hard to be serious when you know what kind of reaction you'll get. Isn't Shishido like that, too? And it's Bane-san's birthday next month...

You make your own rackets? That's kind of cool.

Thank you ∆
I've never made one before, but I can't imagine using a racquet that wasn't hand-made. Mass-produced racquets always fall short of my expectations. My own racquet is best. I call him Lance, because of his Longinus.

Huh. Well, it's cool you were able to actually succeed on your first try, then.

...maybe. How much do you need?

[ooc: Yes, all the grip tape lives at Shinji's, in some bins in the back of the cave where he hopes that Lilia won't ask about it. And he's giving his computer screen a LOOK as he typed that. *grin*]

Um, enough for one handle. If you can handle parting with that much. I don't think it's much different in size to the handle of a modern racquet...

[ooc: I somehow thought that's where it would be! :x]

Have I mentioned how much I appreciate you doing this? Because I really, really do.

You're welcome! If you want to thank me, you could bring me some clam soup when you come to collect it, but otherwise don't make a meal out of it.

I'll have to improvise and substitute some of the ingredients, but consider it done!
