things have changed a lot in my life since i decided to get over my eating disorder. i've taken enough time off from the real world to change my perspective, and i am now trying to devote my time to things other than trying to reach a magic number that would kill me if i ever got there ( Read more... )

Where I'm at, the scene's managed to make it off life support, back into a rather sickly but optimistic state. Most venues are rented out VFW posts, or something similar, unless you're willing to drive the hour or so to a major city, but the people are flourishing once again. Don't give up hope

The scene here is pretty decent. There are two houses that do shows pretty regularly and there's a good group of 20-30 people who try to make it out to all of the shows they can in order to support the local scene and the touring bands. Things have gotten less and less political in the past five years or so, but everyone still operates with a good set of DIY and community-oriented ethics. Most importantly, there's a really tight-knit and supportive community.

I really love the city I live in. Things could always be better, but I think there's definitely "hope." Evil Robot Us' says it best, I think: "The grass is always greener in another scene."
