Cap and Frown
So, it’s finally here, in the proximate distance, taunting me - my graduation. Like I have any idea what I’m supposed to do afterwards. I guess I’m sort of lucky, though, because my father has totally hijacked the event and made it his own, and it could be me sorting through all those added dates and deadlines ( Read more... )

Whoever had the brilliant idea that wearing funny, polyester robes and paying lord knows how much for parking is a nostalgic way to mark the event should be voted off the island.

Whoever thought that up is a RICH RICH person, and should be emulated.

But. Really. Do you know anyone who really wants to go to their graduation? Maybe it is different at small, private schools, but ...

I’m basically doomed to realize that my youth is in fast retreat - after all, it goes pre-school, grade school, middle school, high school, college, and then a long stretch of nothing.

you forgot, heaven forbid, grad school. oddly enough, grad school is like a long stretch of nothing ...

I was hesitant to go to the big graduation ceremony for undergrad, but it was actually one of the most fun things I've been too, and I'm really glad I went. It was also fun hissing and making faces at the people protesting Madeline Albright.

And as for stupd awards and inductions, beleve it or not, they help you get jobs, and jobs are good.

Just like funerals aren't for the dead people, graduation ceremonies aren't for those who are getting their degrees. It's a family life cycle event. Grit your teetch and go with it. You'll have time to figure out what to do next while you are asking, "You want fries with that?" LOL
