My brother graduated from UCLA this year as well, but luckily he was kind enough to tell me that he didn't want me to have to sit through the monotony of his various graduation ceremonies, so I didn't actually have to go. I don't think he would have gone to his own graduation if it weren't for obligations from various relatives who were dying to see him walk along and grab that fake diploma.

Just look at it from a positive angle -- attending your graduation ceremony obligates people to give you presents.
