It so does represent everything that's bad about the consumer society. It's all about want and not need.

You are absolutely right, the whole phone thing is nothing but vanity. I don't get why mobiles are such a status symbol; it's a phone, for goodness' sake.

I didn't really know much about this issue though, so thank you for the links as I shall definitely take a look. And I agree with thinkpink20; your posts are always interesting and informative so please keep posting about the things that matter :)

I don't get it either, everyone's so obsessed with having the latest "in"phone that it's just a fashion accessory really.

Thanks, Evie :) The situation in the Congo is one of those things that people either don't know about, or forget about because it's been going on so long - it's good when awareness can be raised.
