The mattress seems a very safe place for money right now...

I've been having ever increasing cognitive dissonance politically for a few years now as many of the political ideologies I've had have been crumbling and showing their true forms. As of the events during the last two weeks I'm facing an all out political identity crisis ( Read more... )

So out of curiosity and horror I did a bit of a search for this among media sources and found nothing but a few small "alternative" papers. I then did an intarweb search and still found little to do with it except for a few anti-this bill websites. Beginning to think that it might not really exist I went to a government tracking website and found this:
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:s.02913:
It is absolutely reprehensible that our government is using the cover of quite possibly the worst economic catastrophe in history in order to pass through legislation that it is fully aware is wrong. Really, this is abhorrent. I appreciate your bringing it to my attention.
The absolute worst part of this bill? Look at the last line on the page I linked. "Passed Senate with an amendment by Unanimous Consent."

Who do you plan to vote for now?

"Passed Senate with an amendment by Unanimous Consent."
it takes cooperation from both sides of the aisle to achieve a scheme so lacking in care for civil rights.

obama.
in contrast to mccain i agree more with obama on education, civil rights/gay rights, energy/oil, the environment, , health care, immigration, and a handful of other issues. but granted, he's still a far cry from representing my personal views.

as far as foriegn policy (the 'war'), jobs, and the economy i frankly havent gotten a good enough grasp that either are in a position to help the current situation.

That question was meant mostly rhetorical; I'm also planning on voting for Obama at the moment but there really doesn't seem to be anyone in any party who represents anything even close to my own political philosophy, especially now. There just doesn't seem to be anyone willing to stand up for any semblance of individual liberty at all.
It is kind of strange to me that as I feel like my political outlook becomes less radical and more realistic the more out of line it becomes with any political movement around. I'd like to be wrong but I'm not seeing it.

For anyone interested in the links between our current situation and that of 1929, I found this article on the History News Network.

a while ago i decided to keep all my politcal thoughts offline. doing otherwise just made me want to kill everyone else.
so i'm not going to mention that the so called "corporations" involved in the whole financial mess are actually government based entities and not private businesses at all.
i'm also not going to comment on the upcomming election because that's like saying witch testicle you want to be kicked in.
but i have heard recently a ton of people saying that the voters are where the blame should really go so i've got to say...it's P. Diddy's fault. 'Vote of Die' killed everyone. thanks asshole.
