Generation Art?

This evening as I sat staring into my computer and hopelessly falling deeper into my fascination with and desire for Photoshop I stumbled upon a thought. Are we becoming a generation of self obsessed artists? Rather, is our knowledge of technology and our passion for exploring art through these technological mediums our mark or our downfall?
