It's interesting. After reading Mill in my Ethics class, we had to write about how much progress we feel has really been accomplished in recent times. It's scary to think that although we have had a large amount of progress in our time, it usually comes at terrible costs. (i.e.: harvesting nuclear energy that is used to fuel so many places...but at the cost of bombing the shit out of Hiroshima and Nagasaki...)
