I really love the 7th chapter of The Great Gatsby. I am still completely and totally enthralled and consumed by the crafting of the words and the delicacy with which the plot is laid out each and every time I read it.

Is it normal for me to have such passionate feelings about words and the artistry of fine literature?

A Note on F. Scott Fitzgerald: caitiffseros April 18 2007, 01:50:45 UTC
I loved Great Gatsby in high school… mostly because, at its core, it was about a wacky bootlegger who loved throwing killer parties and hanging out with his girl. But I still can't get past Fitzgerald's insistant use of "could of" and "should of." It's like nails on a chalkboard, man. And, sure, it's also poetic and what have you. And that danm green light at the end of the dock… but I digress.

To this day, however, A Confederacy of Dunces is my favorite book of all time. It's just so tragic/comic it makes me want to piss my life away writing fiction.

i think its pretty normal to have passionate feelings about the words and artistry of fine literature.

its those things that make fine literature "fine".

i mean i can remember reading some books and be taken back by the words the author uses so much that an audible "wow" has come out of my mouth and i have to read that line over again.

its books like that that become my favorites.
