my boyfriend was a social drinker that let it get out of control- its hard to watch someone you love make of a fool of themselves.

its a good idea to quit but try to stop with someone- its harder to let someone else down then it is to let yourself down...

i went "edge" for a year and a half or so...cut out everthing completely. and then it was a sort of "i'll get drunk every once in a while" and that was good for a while...would only get drunk once ever 3 or 4 months or so, but lately it's gotten to be something too frequent for me to be comfortable with it so i'm gonna go through another little cleansing.

and i can completely understand what you mean about appreciating the symbolism of the X's. I think it signifies dedication and will power and commitment. It's just unfortunate that some people get too carried away with it.
