Father's Day

So what do you say to a father who was responsible for teaching you what not to look for in a spouse?  "Thank you, dad, for serving as an example of what I did not marry."  Some people on my FB wall are sharing their favorite memories of their fathers.  Ummm, yeah, so that one time where you told from friend on the phone that you were torturing

Luckily mine is dead, so I don't have to worry about it. If you have other family expecting you to be all gushy and googly eyed over it, then play along. If you don't, say fuck it.

I don't understand people who say, "But he's your FAAAAAAAATHHHEEEERRRRRR!!!!" Yeah, he contributed half my DNA, but damn, what has he done for me lately? Mine was an alcoholic, a mean one at that, never at home, and insulting to me and my mother when he was. I also found out a few years ago that he would give all his pay away to his siblings, which is why Mama was always struggling to make ends meet -- she could only depend on her own paycheck.

I wouldn't even bake the cookies. Send him a card if you feel that obligated.
