Well, that was kind of weird.

I was outside smoking and I hear the woman next door screaming at her son for bringing home a bad progress report or whatever and I'm having flashbacks to my childhood and feeling soooooo sorry for the poor kid because I know all too well how that feels. You're not that different. I feel much the same way in regards to weddings and babies. When Swerve told me that she was definitely pregnant with her second child, my immediate response was, "So... are we happy with this?" If anything, I think you're smart and not fooling yourself. Particularly over the wedding thing. All this hype over the Big Day somehow came to overshadow everything thereafter. I'd rather have a lifetime of messy contentment than one day of fantastical perfection.

As for feeling unprepared for being on the other side of things, I don't think anyone ever really makes it to that point but rather everyone fakes it. There's this huge divide between children and adults when it comes to interaction, but we put it there. I remember being so afraid of talking to adults (because of the way they regarded me) until my mother pulled me aside and explained that adults are just big kids with bills.
