i agree with you, it's irresponsible for the father to commit suicide when there's a family to feed. and getting so much money over it, it's just bad example.

I won't judge if that was irresponsible or not. Probably he thinks he was a total failure in supporting his own family, and that him leaving would mean a lesser burden to his wife. Some families are pretty weird you know... for instance a sister is married off, then her immediate family will feel less obliged to help her financially since she belongs to another family... However, when she has lost her other family, they suddenly become more obliged to support her again, since she has become 'one of them' again.

That, by the way, has happened before to people I know, but the husband didn't commit suicide though.

people are over-donating at some places and under-donating at others. and it. it takes such new for them to donate. looks like everyone will be fighting for the chance to appear on first page of TNP

When i read this case, it reminds me of the Huang Na incident too. but i think this hit me harder. anyway, i was rather unhappy that the money was going to a chinawoman. (that was awfully terrible of me to say it)

Not everyone knows where to seek help. Most of them would hope that help comes to them instead. I'd think it's the society's fault... they only come forward when an issue is brought into concern. I'm sure if someone had bothered to offer an assistance before he died, he would have gladly accepted. But no, everyone only offers financial assistance only AFTER something has happened. Weird. Strangely, if he hadn't jumped onto the tracks and hit the headlines, no one would ever come forward to donate. When something comes under the spotlights, everyone will notice ( ... )
