Заглавный материал в сегодняшнем номере (опубликованный вчера вечером) несколько иного плана. Под заголовком “Rod Rosenstein Suggested Secretly Recording Trump and Discussed 25th Amendment” сообщается о том, как Род Розенштейн обсуждал с другими людьми - в частности Эндрю Маккейбом, на тот момент и.о. директора ФБР, возможность прослушки Трампа, а также его отстранения от должности с использованием 25ой поправки к Конституции. Разговор происходил 16 мая 2017 - после того, как стало известно, что во время встречи с Лавровым и Кисляком в Овальном кабинете Трамп выдал им сверхсекретную информацию об израильском шпионе в Сирии.

At least two meetings took place on May 16 involving both Mr. McCabe and Mr. Rosenstein, the people familiar with the events of the day said. Mr. Rosenstein brought up the 25th Amendment during the first meeting of Justice Department officials, they said. A memo about the second meeting written by one participant, Lisa Page, a lawyer who worked for Mr. McCabe at the time, did not mention the topic.
Mr. Rosenstein’s suggestion about the 25th Amendment was similarly a sensitive topic. The amendment allows for the vice president and a majority of cabinet officials to declare the president is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”

In a May, 16, 2017 meeting at a secure facility at the Justice Department - one week after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey - Rosenstein was arguing with Andrew McCabe, then the acting director of the FBI, about the president, according to a senior Justice Department official.
"Well, what do you want me to do, Andy, wear a wire?" Rosenstein asked at the meeting, which also included FBI lawyer Lisa Page and four career DOJ officials, according to the senior official. One of the career civil servants was Scott Schools, who would later go on to sign off on the firing of McCabe, the official said.
This official and a source who was in the room characterized Rosenstein's remark as sarcastic.
The senior official further said that the reference to invoking the Constitution to remove Trump comes from a post-meeting memo written by McCabe that said the deputy attorney general "raises 25th amendment" and that Page's notes from the same meeting do not contain any similar note.
People who have discussed the matter with McCabe, however, say he remembers Rosenstein as being serious in making the comment about wearing the wire.

Новая информация появилась и про другой контакт Хэннити - Джулиана Ассанжа. Выяснилось, что в конце прошлого года российские дипломаты и спецслужбы работали над тайным планом о переправке Ассанжа из эквадорского посольства в Лондоне в Россию. В конце концов решили не рисковать.

Russian diplomats held secret talks in London last year with people close to Julian Assange to assess whether they could help him flee the UK, the Guardian has learned.
A tentative plan was devised that would have seen the WikiLeaks founder smuggled out of Ecuador’s London embassy in a diplomatic vehicle and transported to another country.
One ultimate destination, multiple sources have said, was Russia, where Assange would not be at risk of extradition to the US. The plan was abandoned after it was deemed too risky.
The operation to extract Assange was provisionally scheduled for Christmas Eve in 2017, one source claimed, and was linked to an unsuccessful attempt by Ecuador to give Assange formal diplomatic status.

“I, Julian Assange, hereby grant full authority to my friend, Israel Shamir, to both drop off and collect my passport, in order to get a visa,” said the letter , which was obtained exclusively by The Associated Press.
The Nov. 30, 2010, missive is part of a much larger trove of WikiLeaks emails, chat logs, financial records, secretly recorded footage and other documents leaked to the AP. The files provide both an intimate look at the radical transparency organization and an early hint of Assange’s budding relationship with Moscow.
