Between the Boiler Room and Room 510, Sunday Midday

Jen

Jennifer was still more than a little amused by the oddness the weekend had brought. For the morning, however, she still had studying to do. As tempted as she was to go out and see what new and exciting people her friends were today, she told herself that she had to at least get an hour or two of study in first.

Then she could go people watch.

Zack

In the boiler room in the basement, illuminated by the cool glow of the electronics attached to Mother's container, Zack was merrily poking through the contact list on his phone.

It was his phone. He was pretty sure. It looked just like the one that he had before he came here, but it had all sorts of interesting names on it, like 'Arthur' and 'Ino' and 'Tseng.' What was a Tseng, anyhow?

But the name that was most interesting at the moment had to be the one that said 'Jen.' Mother and other Mother had been talking about Jen. And maybe if he got her to come to them, then they would both be happy. With a small, thoughtful smile on his lips, Zack hit 'enter' on the phone-that-was-probably-his, and he waited while it rang, swaying from side to side from his seat on the floor.

Jen

Jen hurried over to her phone when she heard it ring, picking it up and answering.

"Peter Piper's Pizza Parlor, what can I get you?" she answered, feeling like joking around.

Zack

"Oh... I... I must have the wrong number," Zack said, furrowing his eyebrows a little. "I need Jen. It's important."

It would make his Mothers happy. That was important.

Jen

"...Zack?" Jennifer said, quickly. "I'm here, sorry, what's wrong?"

If it was important, she was regretting her joke already.

Zack

"Jen!" He perked a bit, pretty certain that he recognized the voice. That green girl who played fetch by throwing him? Oh, he liked her! This would be fun.

He dropped his voice down to the barest whisper he could manage while still being audible over the phone.

"Jen. I need you to come, quick. There are..." What were there? Well, the truth always sounded more believable, didn't it? "Vampires, Jen. In the boiler room."

Jen

"Oh, crap," Jennifer said. Ever since what happened to Raven, she had had vampires on her list of 'things to punch the crap out of'. This was her first chance. "I'll be right there, Zack. Stay safe, don't be the lone hero, okay?"

Zack

"Hurry," Zack hissed into the phone. "I think they're--" He paused for a moment, trying to come up with a good word. "--Bored."

Look, where Alice and Zack were involved, bored was worse than hungry, by far.

"I'll try to hang in there."

And then he hung up.

And he giggled.

[Still made of so much Establishy. Played out with the awesome not_jaded_yet, and coded by flowering_mind, both of whom are made of win.]
