Where in tarnation has she been?!

AHHHHH! *runs up and tackles you from behind* Here I am!!! Sorry I haven’t posted or been able to call anyone recently. But I’ve been very incommunicado. *grumble* Poor/non-existent cell phone service. Yosemite will do that to ya. :) But I’m sure you’d rather see what I’ve been doing than read about it. ^^

Well, first my dad and I landed in Fresno, CA. After a fitful night of sleep (I wasn’t used to going to bed before 3 am ;o) ), we traveled the 2 hours to Yosemite. In a word, awe-inspiring. Period. Yeah. Check it.

The big rock on the left is huge cliff of pure granite called El Capitan. In the background there, you may spot an odd half dome shape, that’s Half Dome. Seriously, I saw this picture in a book before I came, but a photo can’t do it justice. I’ve never seen anything so jaw-droppingly gorgeous.

Then… we got hit by a Hit and Run driver. lol. Yes, harsh reality check. Not sure, who exactly is paying for that...

But, we couldn’t let that ruin our day, oh no. So to perk ourselves up, we went hiking on the very popular Mist Trail. It’s the best one for novice hikers sin duda. Take it if you are ever in Yosemite. After clambering over some steep boulders, we were rewarded with this awesome view.

And for a tad for weirdness, in the parking lot there was this HUGE(!!!) crow. I swear, it was the size of chicken! Godilla-crow!!

Olivia, you might enjoy this: Then my dad acted the hero on this bold pose.

And what did he happen to see, a deer!

It was crazy how close they let us get. They aren’t scared of humans at all. I guess, because they have never dealt with hunters before. So those were the highlights pretty much for you. Though I should mention, that on that first night we had to sleep in these canvas tents. OH. MY. GOD. It was COLD! No heater! 30 degrees. Let’s just say, we were more than pleased to wake up in the morning.

Next stop, the Herst Castle. Herst was a newspaper tycoon and he built himself a little summer home.

Now if this is your idea of a guest house, you are my new best friend.

This was his little swimming hole, humbly named the Neptune Pool.

If you guessed personal cathedral, you’d be wrong. This is La Casa Grande.

Then a room that Chris Columbus drew on for inspiration for the Great Hall in Harry Potter. ^^ When the guide said that, it just made my day. Yes, I know I'm a nerd.

Now for my FAVORITE room. I am seriously going to build me one of these! It’s an indoor pool. Imagine what a Roman Emperor would have for his open bath, and you’d have it.

And the floors: yea that’s REAL 24K gold, I’m stepping on.

Ok, so now we’ve just left Hurst Castle and are now cruising down Highway 1 in Big Sur. Ever seen a car commercial? Then you’ve seen Big Sur. It’s that curvy highway on the ocean.

Honestly, I’ve seen so many landscapes in the span of a few days.

But yes, just when you were sure Nature could never stun you again with its beauty, you see this:

And this!

And THIS!

Honestly! It’s like a slice of paradise. If people have their own personal hells and heavens, then I choose this as my heaven. I mean, waterfall on a beach with rugged cliffs? Come on! Why this picture isn’t plastered over every calendar escapes me, but somehow that makes it more special. ^^ Oh and this place is called McWay Falls and is located in Julia Pfeiffer State Park. And just in the nick of time, I figured out that my digi cam also records little clips, so I have my own portable paradise now. ^^

There is more to post, but I’m really tired. So we’ll have to continue our tour at a later date. ^^ Adios!

P.S. Thanks for all the "good lucks" last post. It meant a lot. ^^
