Fun Weekend!
Weds, Thurs--Sam was home sick with what was originally a tummy bug, but then turned into a head cold...lots of snot and congestion which has lead to poor sleep and refusal to eat...which has lead to a grumpy, clingy bug. But we've been trying to stay patient and empathetic with him! Sammy's class sent him homemade chocolate chip cookies and an adorable get well sign which we hung up on the book shelf--it made Sam so happy. It was very cute.
Friday Sam's school was closed for teacher conferences, so we had ours and got glowing reviews of Sammy. He's thriving. Social and happy and really doing well. Some minor body awareness/impulse control issues (hello, what 3 year old boy doesn't have them?) but overall he is really integrated into the class and doing great. Phew. Played with the neighbors that afternoon and had a great Shabbat dinner as a family so all in all a nice day.
Saturday Omer left me as a single parent this weekend because he was a co-chair for the preschools Hanukkah fair so he was off for hours yesterday setting up! Oh well..we laid low, had a nice morning/afternoon at home playing games and hanging out. It's been a rainy, blah weekend, so perfect for hanging at home. We decorated for Hanukkah, wrapped presents and got our menorah's ready to start the celebration last night. Picked up latkes and jelly donuts from a local Jewish deli mid afternoon and then Omer got home.
Early evening, we Skyped with Omer's parents, lit candles sang the Hanukkah prayers and some songs and ate our yummy treats. The boys opened gifts (a huge Bruder crane truck for Sam and a tennis racket for Eli)...I took pics on my regular camera and haven't uploaded those yet.
Anyway, it was a fun and festive little party. Then our sitter came and we headed out to a Holiday party that some new friends from Eli's school were having.
We had an AWESOME time. This was held at the same place where I went to the Gretchen Rubin book party...so new friends, we really didn't know anyone, but it was easy to chat with people. We really enjoyed being at a grown up cocktail party! Lots of food and drinks and great conversations. It was really nice to talk to new & different people...do a little networking and make some nice connections. :) Omer & I also stuck together most of the night which is kind of unusual for us--we tend to divide at parties and talk to separate people, but it was fun to stay together, people watch and spend time with one another.
Sunday. Stayed out late so I was really dragging this morning. :( Omer headed out early to finish setting up for Dreidel Day, so I got the boys ready, loaded up the stroller and headed down there.
So, it was fun but chaotic. Lots of games and crafts and craziness. They had a fun band playing, balloon artist, face painting, tons of food and sweets and hoopla. Eli & Sam had a great time and Eli was excited to see some of his old buddies from school last year.
Left there and walked home around 1:00. We all rested and then rallied again because we had invited three of Eli's friends from his class and their families over for a swim play date this afternoon. They all came over at 4, swam for an hour while we hung around and visited and then we came back to our apartment for dinner. The boys were adorable--so cute and excited to be together. They ate first and then all played while the grown ups sat around the table eating and visiting. It was the perfect way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.
All four of them in action. I do not have a clear picture of all of then--almost impossible to get four boys to stop moving!

Look at these Little Monkies....
Anyway, we're still getting to know all these familes, but I can honestly say that I'm really enjoying making new friends and getting to know these families better. In the beginning of the school year I didn't feel like I immediately jelled with any of the families, but over time and with lots of fun social events I'm starting to feel more comfortable. Tonight was fun. We'll definitely do more get togethers like this in the future!
We lit candles again tonight and the boys got new PBK bathrobes with their names on it. They are so warm and cozy--they both insisted on wearing them to sleep!
So it was a fun weekend for sure!
Oh, and for fun, some more outfits out the week since I've still been having fun getting dressed (most days!)
